The Bear Shard has a section in the middle that contains egg shells. I created a very successful way to design with eggshells and would like to share that with you. You will also use Heat Activated Glue and Embossing Powder along with ink dyes. To finish, you will make this embellishment using a Turquoise stone in the center of gold wire.

The Geometric Shard is really exciting and I know you will love how this is done. It is easier than it may look, but with my direction, you will create this attractive geometric design with me. You will use Heat Activated Glue along with several embossing powder colors. We will use paper punches and scrapbooking scissors to create various geometric patterns. The attractive embellishment on this shard is also a great finish you will enjoy making.

The Geometric Star Shard is a lovely dimensional design effect using my new Acrylic paints, black embossing powder and Chestnut Ink.
The embellishment is the same technique used in the Geometric Shard but with a different stone. Embellishments are made with gemstones and glass beads but adding wire also adds a lovely finish to these beads.

The Kokopelli Shard contains a technique I created using two different ink colors that will be shared in class. We will use Heat Activated Glue and silver leafing. This is a very exciting technique that I am sure you will love. You will finish with this attractive and easy wire embellishment shown in the picture.

The Fern Shard involves the use of Black Terra Cotta Texture, Fern pattern and accent powders. You will really like this technique.

Don’t Miss the Opportunity to attend this NEW and EXCITING Gourd Class. This class offers very unique techniques including the use of Terra Cotta Texture and Crackle Products. Finishes with metallic wax, heat activated glue and embossing powder and leafing are also an exciting part of this class. Metallic Acrylic Paints are experimented with along with wire art, fibers, clay and more.

We will design your gourd shards using my techniques and products, and in addition, we will create embellishments.
You will work with a very generous amount of supplies given in this class, and an instructional pamphlet with many pictures so you can use these techniques again.

I will accept 1 to 20 people of all skill levels who want to learn how to complete that special finish to your gourd. Once you learn the techniques, the shards are perfect reminders of that technique for a future project. The embellishments can also be used in jewelry projects. Pre-Payment is required to reserve your seat.

Maria’s teaches a sensible and creative approach to designing on a gourd. After this class, you will make decisions for yourself by following Maria’s easy steps to designing and coloring your gourd. Your gourd, tools, and products are included in this very involved all day class. You will receive a gourd already cleaned and you may pick out a pattern of your choice. Maria will teach to one person or to several but keeping the classes smaller allows personal time with each student. Class time is 10:00 a.m. until 4p.m. Bring a lunch. Beverage and snacks are provided. Classes are offered at my home in a very comfortable setting. If there are special needs or requests, please be sure to let me know before class. Please call 520-298-6978 for dates and times that will work with your schedule.

This class is a basic beginner approach to gourd art beginning with placing the pattern in the perfect spot on your gourd. The pattern is woodburned and the Introduction of Ink Dyes is addressed in this class. The plan is to keep it simple and attractive so you can understand the process and complete this gourd in class.
